Mayor Charles Crowley confirmed the death of Army Sgt. Shane Duffy. Crowley did not disclose details of Duffy's death but said the family was notified yesterday. The 24-year-old Duffy's father, Keavin, is a Taunton firefighter. Duffy was on his second tour of duty in Iraq, according to the Taunton Gazette. He served there for 10 months in 2004, and was re-deployed last September. Duffy was honored at a Taunton High School softball game on May 23 in which his sister had the game-winning hit. He leaves behind a wife and young child.
