RIte Care supporters take to the State House
A group of advocates, medical providers and officials plan to meet at the State House today to lobby against proposed cuts to the state’s health insurance plan.
Joining the group will be Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts, Nick Tsiongas, representing the Rhode Island Medical Society, and Yvonne Freeman, representing the Rhode Island Black Nurses Association.
The group has invited other state representatives and medical practitioners to join the event, “White Coats for Healthy Votes,” at the State House this afternoon. The group will voice its opposition to proposed cuts to the RIte Care program, which provides subsidized health care for low-income families.
The press conference is set to begin today at 3:15 p.m. in room 313 at the State House.

Liz Roberts really needs to go away. She has lost my support and my respect due to her support of illegal immigrants and her health care program.
