Mobster Marrapese won't be getting out tomorrow

Jailed mobster Frank L. "Bobo’’ Marrapese Jr. won’t be getting out of prison as planned tomorrow.

Apparently so much media attention has been given to his expected place of work, Anthony’s Restaurant, that the Johnston eatery has had second thoughts about employing him, said state corrections spokeswoman Tracey Poole.

Marrapese, now 65, was expected to be paroled from the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston for the first time in 25 years. The convicted killer was to spend tomorrow morning getting processed and fitted for an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle before rejoining society.

"What this means is he has to get a job placement planned approved [by the Parole Board] before he gets released,’’ said Poole.

One of the conditions of parole is that inmates must have an approved job plan before they are released.

Let me get this straight: the "media gave so much attention " to this soon to be paroled inmate's proposed job plan that it was withdrawn - an act that essentially engendered yet more media attention ,to wit, this story. Is this a new method that they now teach in journalism school - create news and then report it ? If the Journal continues in this vein,it's highly unlikely it'll ever see a Pullitzer Prize again.

I think he has paid his debt to society. What he has done in the pass should not be held against him, he has the right to start a new fulfilling live. You may not agree, but it is the law. R.R.H

Your parole board members need their heads examined - a known vicious murderer, who said "he'll never forget rats" - they have ordered his release. It will cost the State and Federal Government more money to protect him and the State of Rhode Island, than it would have if he completed a life sentence. Maybe the Fed's need to investigate the parole board members; are they on the 'take'?

The Parole Board and Court System say he and any other high profile inmates have served their time so they should be paroled. The news media should not be making a big deal out of where they will be working. Hundreds of inmates are paroled each year and we never hear about where they are working. Part of their conditions of parole is that they get a job, which is what we want, right? Keep them off the street and supporting them selves.
It's hard enough to find a company that will hire any one with a record or over 50. We should be applauding these companies for helping out the parole system by giving these people a chance to turn their lives around. Instead we make them afraid of what people will think if they hire some one with a record. These companies are providing a good service and we should be encouraging more companies to step up and help, not scaring the few away.
If any one has a problem with who gets paroled, take it up with the parole board not me. This is the system we have. I'm supporting the companies that are willing to help these people stay off the streets and away from crime. This is all part of prison and rehabilitation. If we don't help them find work they will have no choice but to turn back to crime to support them selves and their families. Is that what we rally want?

I think it's time that we change the members of the parole board. To even consider a release for BoBo Marapese, a convicted killer who will certainly kill again, as did Freddie Bishop, is beyond my comprehension.

I never killed anyone. I have no police record at all. I'm about the same age as Bobo and I've been looking for work for a month. How does a murderer like him even FIND a job? Maybe when my benefits run out I can take his room at the bug grey house with the fenced-in yard and let the state support me!
