Are we surprised by the violence, not only in Providence, but communities surrounding it? Regardless of what anyone may say or think, Providence is out of control and it is spreading outward. 2 murders in the past few days is just the beginning as the warm weather approaches. Look to see 20-25 murders in Providence this year.

Looks like Providence is well on its way to becoming the next Boston, complete with its very own "Combat Zone". The city has a long and illustrious history of slave trading, rum-running, gambling and narcotics, so is it any surprise that violence comes with the territory?

Providence will never become like Boston because it's too small and our demographics are spread out differently, as well as the lay of the land (strip clubs, rough neighborhoods, affluent neighborhoods etc). This happens. It obviously doesn't effect you previous posters. Cities have shootings. Sometimes the bullets miss, sometimes they hit skin. This city, for it's population size, has pretty low numbers of homocides in recent years. AND NO I don't believe Jim Hummel's police number-fudging report by an instant. He and Cianci are out to personally attack public officials. You're not doing anything to encourage or prevent violence in our capitol city right? Continue playing your violins.
