Daniel Biechele, former tour manager for Great White, walked out of the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston today at noon.

CRANSTON -- The man who lit the pyrotechnic display that sparked the 2003 Station nightclub fire has been released from prison.

Daniel Biechele walked out of the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston today at noon, and headed directly to the car of his lawyer, Thomas Briody.

Biechele did not reply to a group of television, newspaper and radio reporters from around New England who asked how he was doing and where he was going.

Briody later released this statement:

"Today marks the completion of one part of Mr. Biechele’s sentence. Out of respect for the victims of the fire he does not wish to make any comment. He was a private citizen before this tragedy and he wishes to remain so. There will be no further comment."

Biechele was sentenced in 2006 to 4 years after being convicted of 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter. He will serve the rest of his sentence on parole.

Under the worst of circumstances, he came forward, admitting guilt, and took his punishment. As Easter is upon us, perhaps we should embrace the powerful and holy concept of forgiveness...

While the act itelf was a complete lack of judgment on Dan's part, he was the only MAN to take responsibility for his actions. He has to live with the results which is punishment enough. The Dirderians however, were strictly in the business for profit and even after hearing that Jeff Derdarian told one worker during the fire to go back and get the cash register - he wasn't held accountable for lives lost due to the greed of him and his brother. Amazing how the laws pertain to those who have money and those who don't literally PAY THE PRICE. Even the state of RI was released from liability w/in 3 or 4 days of the fire except it had colected revenues from the various businesses that occupied the establishment IN THE SAME CONDITION for years. Funny how accountability can be manipulated to the advantage of those who put aside the safety of others for the all mighty dollar! ONLY IN RI - where you will get more time in prison for stealing money than you will for taking a life!

Exactly, Dan and Riley... Can we just re-initialize and start this thing all over again... I mean the laws that govern US. The fire marshalls, inspectors who gave then their licence , should have done time. but Dan, is right, the time is now to move on.....

I live in Florida now, but was living in Coventry at the time of the Station Fire. I truly believe there is no one person that was responsible for that tragic night. Everyone, including the West Warwick Fire inspector all the way down the line of allowing too many people into the club that night, acted irresponsible and tragedy occured. We must learn from this if anything, that we must promote safety and follow the codes set up by the law. I pray that all of this that happened was not in vain. Forgiveness can come at all different times and all different ways. I believe Dan served time he didn't have to. Where are all the others , the manager, the nightclub owners, the building owners. Let's be upright and take responsiblity. God bless, diane M. Valerien

I agree with the first three comments. He took responsibility, did his time and now it is time to leave him alone. I will never understand why the fire marshall or the inspectors were never held accountable. In my mind, they should be the ones accounting for the needless deaths alone. But in RI it seems money and whom you know greases the doors to the courtrooms and the ACI. Great state, terrible corruption that needs to be exposed, tarred and feathered.

He faced his punishment and took his medicine like a man; unlike reporter Jeff Derderian.

If you read the whole story, you would of learned that the inspector performed an inspection for a liquor license only..which is a brief checklist...full building inspection was not done due to the fact they are understaffed. yes was not in the budget .. and did not want to hire anyone. too bad the media did not report thse facts correctly.but they sure got this one wrong..only reason we don't hear of more fires happening across the US is that most people are smart enough to not allow pyro's !! if all the details came out...you would see just how much the state had on the Dederians.. and all the citations they rec'd for violations..why do you think they plea bargained?? I am a legal assistant who worked on the case.

Well I think he has suffered enough. Everybody deserves a second chance, that's if they learn from the first one.
