Update: McCain is coming to Rhode Island Thursday

Republican presidential candidate John McCain will come to Rhode Island Thursday afternoon for a rally in Warwick. He's the first presidential candidate to do so in the lead-up to the state's March 4 primary.

McCain is slated to appear at 1:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza, said state Rep. Robert Watson, who is chairman of McCain's campaign in Rhode Island. Watson said the rally is a free-to-the-public, first-come first-serve event.

“We're very excited,” said Watson, an East Greenwich Republican who is House minority leader and who recently traveled with the McCain campaign in New Hampshire and South Carolina.

After commanding wins in many of the Feb. 5 “Super Tuesday” primary contests, and with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign suspended, McCain is the GOP front-runner.

McCain is set to fly from Washington, D.C., for Vermont for a morning event and then come to Rhode Island, where he is expected to spend about two to two-and-a-half hours in Warwick, according to Watson.

There is also expected to be an official meet-and-greet with McCain for his campaign team in the state and McCain supporters. There is also expected to be a fund-raising component.

No word yet on visits from the Democratic candidates, with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama locked in a battle for delegates. Rhode Island, Vermont, Texas, and Ohio hold presidential primaries on March 4.

Is this the only notice (at least it's the only one I've seen) that there will be an official meet-and-greet with McCain tomorrow with State and McCain supporters. If so, then how do they know who the supporters are? And where is it? Is this the event at the Crowne Plaza? I really hate this State and the way it gives you so much lead time to prepare and get involved. With that said, I wish the best for McCain in his run. More importantly, I hope he knocks the socks off the Dems!

Both myself, as a member of McCain's National Veterans Coalition, and a contingent of Rhode Island veterans, will be on hand for our next President's visit to the state. As Rhode Island's greatest supporter of McCain (in all respects), I invite all readers to attend the "meet-and-greet" and hear him tell us all how is a real political Conservative - and NOT a "moderate." RON PAUL is the ONLY Conservative option.

By the time you finish reading this entry the US will be $500,000 deeper in debt.
Our country is in denial that we are broke. We need to cut federal spending not get ourselves deeper into debt to foreign lenders.

# John McCain´s proposals would result in a $6.9 billion spending hike.
# Mike Huckabee´s proposals would result in a $54.2 billion spending hike.
As for the Democrats:
# Hillary Clinton´s proposals would result in a $218.2 billion spending hike.
# Barack Obama´s proposals would result in a $287.0 billion spending hike.

RON PAUL's proposals would cut the bloated federal budget by a $150 billion while still protecting the seniors who are entitled to their social security payments.
You can fact check this at the American Taxpayers Union website.
