Generosity that came with makeover was extreme, too

WARWICK -- As the Silva family prepared to spend their first night in their new “home sweet Extreme Makeover home” today on Yucatan Drive, they learned that the road ahead lies strewn with further generosity.

Free flat-screen televisions and computers. A house full of furniture from Cardi’s (AKA Nick, Ron and Pete). A $20,000 donation in their name to Adoption Rhode Island. Free visits to Six Flags, all summer long. And, for the next year, all the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee they can drink; all the Friendly’s ice cream they can eat; and all the free cable TV they can watch.

“Thank you isn’t enough,” said Kenny Silva, as he hugged one donor after the next.

The gift parade occurred in front of the New England shingle-style house that was one feverish, round-the-clock week in the making and courtesy of the reality TV program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

The finished product was unveiled to the Silvas yesterday afternoon.

Good for them!! I am so happy to hear about this. I love good heart felt stories, the ProJo should do more. All we hear about is the doom and gloom. Congratulation Silvas, you deserve this!!!

Congrats. I love watching this show; it shows that there is still good in the world. I think it is so great for a family that is doing so much for kids to be granted this wonderful house. Be well; be safe.

In tody's society with all the politacal RED TAPE it is nice to know that there are still generous people in this world and it enjoyable to read the news and hear of a nice story with a good outcome.

Congadulations to the Silva family and everyone who donated and gave there help to make this happen. It's nice to see that good things happen to so deserving people. My hat goes out to Extreem Makeover, without them this would not have happened. I watch the show often and its so nice to see families being helped.
Another great job Extreem Makeover.

While I can sympathize with the financial struggles of this family, I would hope that private donations make their free cable TV possible. I would also like free cable for me since I pay over 300 dollars weekly for my family's health care. If Cox or a satellite company is making this donation , Then I think it is unfair to other people who pay their own way and still have their own financial hardships to traverse.

I am thrilled that the Silva family has received such wonderful gifts. They really deserve it for the devotion and oportunities they have given to these children. I also would like to see more heartwarming stories from Projo. All we hear is bad news. Maybe if we published more positive stories then our children will learn positive things.
