Carmen Marrero, of Providence. wipes tears from her eyes, as she speaks about how her boyfriend was arrested by federal immigration agents two days after news media featured them as parents of the first New Year's baby in Rhode Island. The father, Mynor Montufar, is facing deportation, and David De La Roca — also an illegal immigrant, one of several people who shared the couple’s apartment — is dead in an apparent suicide. Today, her sister, Marisol Muniz, left, and mother Lillian Muniz listen to Marrero.

Everyone involved knew the possible ramifications of being in this country illegally. The father of this child I'm sure knew his status was "illegal", however he made the choice to continue to live as such, and in the process created a child. It finally caught up to him and now he is being deported for a LEGITIMATE reason. Let's take the child, and all other facets of this case and stick to his status and then ask if what occurred is right, and the answer will surely resonate as yes. Poor decisions lead to poor results.

Maybe you and the kids should follow the "boy friend" back home ! OR are there two OTHER Dads involved in your family?? Funny how none of the articles address if he is the Dad of just one, two , or all of the THREE.
hmmmmmmmmm...................

Just read that the father was supposed to "voluntarily" leave the country in August 2007 and didn't - they knew from the getgo that he wsa not here legally. Now she is whining about breaking up families - you are not married to this person, gave birth to a 3rd child under these circumstances and want pity from the hard working taxpayers and LEGAL citizens of this state - cry me a river, then ride it back to Guatamala and let the father take care of these children there.

Has anyone bothered to check the RI Judiciary webpage for Montufar or Montufer? It's public info. Perhaps his criminal history barred him from legal status.
