Carmen Marrero, of Providence. wipes tears from her eyes, as she speaks about how her boyfriend was arrested by federal immigration agents two days after news media featured them as parents of the first New Year's baby in Rhode Island. The father, Mynor Montufar, is facing deportation, and David De La Roca — also an illegal immigrant, one of several people who shared the couple’s apartment — is dead in an apparent suicide. Today, her sister, Marisol Muniz, left, and mother Lillian Muniz listen to Marrero.

Everyone involved knew the possible ramifications of being in this country illegally. The father of this child I'm sure knew his status was "illegal", however he made the choice to continue to live as such, and in the process created a child. It finally caught up to him and now he is being deported for a LEGITIMATE reason. Let's take the child, and all other facets of this case and stick to his status and then ask if what occurred is right, and the answer will surely resonate as yes. Poor decisions lead to poor results.
