Cranston firefighters remove an injured driver from an Explorer SUV that rolled over after colliding with another car and a utility pole on Pontiac Avenue in Cranston, at intersection with Burnside.

CRANSTON -- Two people are being taken to the hospital and a section of Pontiac Avenue near City Hall has been closed after an accident this morning.

A pole was struck knocking high-voltage wires to the ground. Utility crews have been called to the scene.

One of the cars rolled over.

Um, how is it possible to have a roll-over accident on what's basically a downtown street? I don't doubt the reports. That's just a lot of speed for that area.

Do the projo staffers just sit around listening to the police scanner all day long?

yeah sure, that's what the ProJo staffers do all day long is listen to police scanners. Would you want them to be standing on Pontiac Ave. all day long waiting for an accident? Usually crime, fire and accident reports are picked by police scanners because....that's what they're there for! DUH!

Thanks Matt, that is what police scanners are for... for use by THE POLICE and other rescue personnel. Not for reporters to find out the locations of accidents so they can show up and shamelessly take pictures to post on the internet. "DUH!" They've basically become ambulance chasers and don't even bother following up with the story later on unless someone dies or a Barrington teenager is involved.
