Douglas Oliveira, 46, of Sachem Street, Pawtucket, was taken to the hospital from the 8 a.m. accident that happened between the Branch Avenue and Charles Street exits. According to state police Lt. Glenn Skalubinski, a white Toyota Camry driven by Evan Fullerton, 17, of Attleboro, Mass., was traveling south and, about 250 feet south of Branch Avenue, began to slow down because of heavy traffic. Oliveira's motorcycle did not slow down enough in time and collided with the back of the Camry. -- projo.com staff writers Michael P. Douglas was my uncle and since the accident he has passed away. I feel that if a helmet was required he would still be with us. Rhode Island should not allow motorcyclist to not have to wear a helmet. I feel it's ridiculous and if it was mandated then we would not lose as many lives as senseless as I have lost him.
