Report: Bristol VA administrator put on leave
BRISTOL -- The administrator of the Rhode Island Veterans Home has reportedly been placed on paid leave as the state looks into the care and treatment of residents at the facility.
Reports say that David Kirchner was placed on leave while the Department of Human Resources investigates complaints from families of residents that access to their loved ones was limited after they raised questions about care.
An interim report from a legislative committee earlier this month was highly critical of some operations at the veterans home, finding problems in the nursing system that include antagonism toward residents.
The 11-page document reportedly found low morale among staff members and the abuse of some policies, including denying the release of information to authorized families.
A final report is due in January.
