Mayor Joseph Larisa, Jr., concedes and congratulates Isadore Ramos on winning after reviewing absentee ballots this morning at the Board of Elections.

East Providence Mayor Joseph Larisa Jr. today conceded defeat in last month's election to former assistant Schools Supt. Isadore Ramos.

Larisa conceded this morning after reviewing more than 700 absentee ballots.

Larisa lost the City Council at-large seat to Ramos by 16 votes out of more than 16,000 cast. In East Providence, the council elects the mayor from among its members.

It About Time, I hope it he try to run in 2 years the people of East Providence, Remember How he acted during the pass election. He used Our taxs dollars to hold up this election. Then only one who made money was his Lawyer.

I applaud Mr. Larisa for his tenacity in seeing through the results to the absolute end for the East Providence Council at Large. I think his approach to the recount was most professional and he represented all voters ensuring that every vote was counted and included in determining the actual victor. There are many variables that can swing the results, including margins of error and mere human flaw that must be accounted for when the results are so close, a recount is the only way to go. I think the voters of EP can now put a foot forward with more confidence. Kaleen from Rumford, RI

Mr.Larisa should reimburse the State for the expense he created during the post election fiasco. Congratualtions to Dr. Ramos for his victory. Maybe now we can bring back respect and TRUE Townie pride back to the council chambers.
