Gasoline prices jump another 9 cents

PROVIDENCE -- Gasoline prices in Rhode Island increased an average of nine cents per gallon over the past week, 29 cents over just the last three weeks, according to AAA Southern New England.

The average price for regular, unleaded gasoline is $2.75 per gallon at the self-service pump, according to AAA's weekly survey.

The price is higher than at any other time except for the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina last summer, AAA says.

AAA says several factors are contributing to higher prices. They are high crude oil prices, rising demand for gasoline, and falling inventories of gasoline as refineries make the seasonal switch to cleaner-burning fuels.

These gas prices are outrageous there is no reason for Americans to be paying these kinds of prices. I'm wondering how long it's going to go on before someone steps up and says enough is enough. In "Little Rhody" the prices range anywhere from 2.73 to 2.89 as of yesterday. Why can't stations be regulated so that they all charge the same?

Living down here in Florida (Daytona Beach) we are paying around $3.09 a gallon. Yet people still continue to purchase gas. I recently saw people filling up a boat and their 2 water jet ski's. The traffic is worse than ever with people traveling. People are still continuing to enjoy life even though it is costing much more to do so. I have cut back tremendously but what is it going to take?
