what starts off with boring ends up not so bad

although this week has kinda been a bore..thats ok b/c next week is the 4th and its my best friend's birthday and that means we have tons of stuff planned!

but first i forgot to tell you last sunday club hell was hosting the next round of the battle of the bands. the girls and i went to support our friends (senior discount) in their quest for first place to move on the the next round in boston.

although they came in third that was really good considering they were up against 27 bands or something like that...another friend of mine also tied with them for third..now i couldnt tell ya the name of his band bc i had just met him that night but they were really good and it was a surprise for them to be playing down here (bc they are from western mass.) but some good friends dragged them down.

i'll have to do my homework and find out the name of my friends band lol. the preview cd i have is good, it's like rock/reggae.

last night consisted of dinner at andreas and drinks at as220. we had gone to visit a friend/client we met doing hair and makeup for a 1940s event at the biltmore.

they had a few bands playing there that night who were all very talented, one of which you can catch play at the livingroom in july, they're called the coming week.

anyway tuesday we all went to georges in narr. it was dead but there was a cute two person house band and the weather was nice. and it was also nice to be home before 2am haha... and ive heard its a good place to go on mondays.

If your looking for stuff to do down in newport on monday, state radio is playing a show with monty are i, that should be amazing..and as far as the 4th ill keep you posted on cool things going on..i no as220 will prob. be one of them!

stylist says: bored? re-vamp your look

nightlife aside...im here to shed light on the most recent trends in hair design this year/season.

Victoria Beckham, former Spice Girl and wife of soccer star David Beckham, models her new dVb jeans in New York last week.

as you may have noticed we have taken quite a crazy loop in fashion and hair design...you might just say the 80's are calling! many styles being edgy, punk, or just plain london influenced....so they say edgy beauty is back.

this year/season you are seeing more short, textured looks with striking color..the shorter you go, the blonder you can be (hence victoria beckham). or you can take the exotic vixen look with a midnight black or dark blood red paired with a great disconnected layered haircut or even put a wild spin on the old bob or shoulder length cut with some choppy angles or artistically carved bangs.

and dont forget to add your own personal splash of color to liven up what you already have...trust me a slice of bright pink, purple, and blue..yes blue can be fierce with any color and it will let your personality shine through!

now for all of you more conservative folks out there supermodel hair is now not the only style people are finding sexy, you can still pull it off and be hip.

trade in your mousy brown for a richer deep brown perhaps with some red or be daring and go for mysterious black, you could even add some form of hi-light..with all the updated hi-lighting techniques there is sure to be one hat will be well suited for you..and remember dont skimp on the layers or at least be somewhat daring and add some rock star angles or fringe to lift and hi-light your face.

and p.s. take care of your hair with a color shampoo or one that will deliver extra moisture with these hot summer days ahead..and dont forget your thermal heat protectant gloss or mousse, whatever suits you and your new do.

with that said i hope it inspires you to get out there and try a new look! for now im going to enjoy my wine and dinner and start figuring out plans for this week!

the long-awaited concert and a question

now that i actually have a chance to sit down let me tell you about the week i just had! like i was saying before tuesday was 80's night...but first the girls and i had drinks at andreas.

now let me ask you...why do guys stare..across the way from andreas is nice slice..there were some cute guys there..but why stare why not just come over and say hi?

well after we left we headed over to club hell wich was moved to level 2 for the night b/c they were still filming 27 dresses there.

once we were there for a little while we ran into none other than the boys from nice slice (random) and we didnt only chill with them but the deftones too! they were in town playing a show the following night at lupos. wicked good time.

the rest of the week consisted of work and sleep...

sat. i did hair for a huge wedding party..after that my friends and i picked up some wine and ordered pizza and hung out at my house b/c lauren and i had to book a hotel for monday night..(the madina lake concert).

it was really nice to hang in for once and just gossip about work and other stuff. before i knew it, it was monday and i had to meet lauren in providence to go on our adventure! we checked into our hotel in Conn. (surprised we didnt get lost haha) and decided to grab some lunch and a cold beer.

in the mean time dan and the rest of madina lake were getting a tour of espn b/c they want to use their next single to back the plays of the week..cool!

so the concert was great as expected..and we all headed over to the hotel for some drinks...the boys showered and relaxed before hitting the road to new york to do an acoustic radio show and to play their final show with fire escape.

what a great week..now the begining of a new one...and i should be started off right!

how to deal with no sleep, and the fun that awaits!

well i have to say this week that just passed i didnt really go out..let me tell you all those late nights will catch up with you every now and again. So i opted for rest this week. but how do i make it through work with no sleep?

easy i dont really have a choice.

get up..shower..put on some depeche mode or something violently loud..grab a coffee and make sure im at work at least 20mins early to set up shoot the ... and collect my thoughts.

when you know you have no other choice than to be full of life, you just are..as long as you dont sit down and relax (b/c then you will crash) it will be fine.

since tonite is tuesday..im thinking 80's night, then we will have to see..but next monday we are going up to Conn. to see my friends madina lake play a show at the webster theatre..and who knows throne (some other friends of ours from Conn.) may even be opening for them..but we'll see. ill keep ya updated!
