Herbert Hill Hurt; Will Make 76'ers

Word out of Philadelphia this morning has Herbert Hill injured. He's out indefintely but a meniscus tear is not major. Maybe out 4-6 weeks if things go well.
Here is the Philly Inquirer story:

Rookie center Herbert Hill, who has been one of the surprises of 76ers training camp, has suffered torn cartilage in his left knee and is out indefinitely.
Hill will be operated on Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala., by noted surgeon James Andrews. Team physician Jack McPhilemy will travel to Birmingham to assist in the procedure.

Sixers president and general manager Billy King said yesterday that there was no way to tell how long Hill would be sidelined until he consults with the doctors.

Acquired in a draft-day trade from Utah after being selected as the 55th overall pick out of Providence, Hill began experiencing pain after Tuesday's practice. He traveled to New York for Wednesday's game and was seen by a Knicks doctor.

Hill, who had an MRI on the knee, said the injury could have been a result of playing a lot of basketball since the college season ended.

"It's been a long summer and a long year of basketball," Hill said after yesterday's practice at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. "Maybe it was just the normal wear and tear."

King also said the injury would not affect Hill's status with the team.

"The plans were to keep him anyway. We aren't going to get rid of him because he tore [a] meniscus," King said.

Hill, who said he had never been injured before, averaged 2.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 9.0 minutes while appearing in the first five preseason games.

"This is an obstacle, but I will only come back more focused and better," Hill said
