| Ford, GM, Toyota sales fall as auto slump persists »
The late Pride Ford dealership in North Attleboro is auctioning off its entire inventory this Saturday - and that includes its car wash, alignment systems, tire and brake equipment, tools, computers and office furnishings - in addition to some 40 new and pre-owned vehicles. The free market's a rum system. While it relies on competition to provide the stimulus to keep it vital and productive, there is no doubt something sad about seeing a fellow competitor close and sell up. Pride Ford closed its doors many weeks ago and has not responded to questions about its fortunes. So one is left to speculate why it foundered and to what extent its demise reflects the marketplace in general. Certainly, these are not easy times for anyone. Just ask my boss. The auction is scheduled for 10:30 am this Saturday at 891 South Washington Street, North Attleboro, Mass. - Peter C.T. Elsworth |
