The average price of self-serve regular gasoline hit a record high of $3.18, rising more than 11 cents over the past two weeks, according to a nationwide survey released Sunday, the Associated Press reports.
The latest figure topped the record of $3.07 set two weeks ago, which had been the highest price since the average cost of a gallon of gas hit $3.03 on Aug. 11, 2006, according to the Lundberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations across the country, AP said.
The latest price also beat the previous inflation-adjusted record of $3.15 per gallon in March 1981, AP said

How can you tell that gas is headed for four bucks a gallon? When the monopolies that control the supply tell you that, as they have already, via the national news media.
BTW, if, as it has been claimed by every lying son of an oil-well-loving CEO of the few remaining REALLY. REALLY BIG oil companies, that the obscene profits that they have been reaping since Katrina showed up to ravage the Big Easy, are being used to ensure a ready supply of petroleum products, then why haven't these greasy sons of the devil put any of those billions into refineries that are not in the way of monster hurricanes like Katrina?

This Country , has sen better times ! And i'm afraid the good times for our Kids are over . When I have to decide on Fuel oil or cat food ,and the Latter is my Dinner . Knowing I fought for this country in WWII and now live on a Fixed income in the State of N>Y / sad Days are ahead of us All of us !!!!! (NOT SO PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN )
Peter C.T. Elsworth responds:
Hey, James, are you really eating cat food? There must be a better way. If you fought in WWII like my dad, my hats off to you. But find a community food bank to get better food in you - and this is a great country despite the mess this administration has made of it with this hideous war in Iraq. Certainly things are changing but they always have. Please cheer up and get some good food in your stomach. Hey that'll cheer you up!
Cheers
