Honeywell buys Cranston-based manufacturer

Honeywell International Inc. has purchased Norcross Safety Products, LLC, parent of the Cranston-based manufacturer North Safety Products, for approximately $1.2 billion, the companies announced today.

Norcross, based in Oak Brook, IL, is a leading manufacturer of personal protective equipment used in work environments such as fire fighting, electrical and other industrial work places. Norcross employs over 2000 worldwide, with manufacturing operations in the U.S. Canada, Mexico, Europe and China.

Norcross is the parent of North Safety Products, a 75-year-old company which employs over 300 people in its Cranston manufacturing facility and headquarters, said David Barricelli Jr., a company spokesman.
