The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation today announced changes to the agency’s expedited permitting process, known as Certificate of Critical Economic Concern. The changes are designed to make the program a more useful tool in the state’s effort to expedite high priority economic development projects and to accelerate the creation of higher wage job opportunities for Rhode Islanders. Wha'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis?
Rhode Island has had an "expedited permitting program" for a very long time, only it was called insider politics, cronyism, nepotism, favoritism, corruption.
Not sure? Witness the recent phaseout of the state historic tax credits. Certain people and projects had the "foresight" to get on "the list" prior to the cutoff date of December 31. Others, shucks, missed the golden window of opportunity, and we continue to read every day of yet another project that ain't gonna go down.
So, are you in or out?
