Cessna gets state help in Kansas
Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius signed a bill to allow the state to issue up to $33 million in bonds to help Cessna Aircraft expand its Wichita plant.
Cessna is owned by Providence-based Textron
The expansion will allow Cessna to manufacture its new Citation Columbus business jet in Kansas. The company expects to increase its annual payroll to about $74 million and add 1,000 new jobs.
Under the new law, the bonds will be repaid from the withholding taxes Cessna collects from its new employees.
