Keith W. Stokes, the executive director of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, has been appointed to the governing board of the Quonset Development Corporation, the state agency that runs the Quonset Business Park. The QDC is a division of the state Economic Development Corporation. Governor Carcieri's appointment of Stokes, to a 1-year term, requires confirmation by the state Senate. Stokes has served on the 9-member EDC board since being appointed to his first term in 1994. His appointment to the 11-member QDC board would expire next January, according to EDC spokeswoman Melissa L. Withers.
