June 3, 2007
As the Yankee players walked into the cramped clubhouse under the third base stands, they were sharply dressed in stylish suits and ties. The team is slated to fly to Chicago for a series with the White Sox after tonight's game.
Almost as soon as they walked into the room, however, several players rushed to laptops set up around the area and checked on the weather. The forecast is gloomy with rain - heavy rain - arriving tonight. The question is when. If it wasn't for ESPN, the two teams would be done playing and be on their charter flights by now (the Sox are headed cross-country to Oakland). But they're forced to wait until an 8:05 first pitch time.
Will it be raining by then? Downpouring by 9:30 perhaps? No rain until after midnight? Who knows. The Yankees, and fans up and down the East Coast, will keep checking the radar on their computers.
