Good omen?

The last two times the Red Sox had a pitcher lose a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning -- Billy Rohr in 1967 and Rick Wise in 1975 -- they won the pennant in those seasons and advanced to the World Series.

Elston Howard broke up Rohr's bid...anyone know who broke up Wise's No No without looking it up?

Yes Art, but how did those seasons ultimately end? We're no longer satisfied with entertaining "almosts."

So I'd say bad omen.

J.D. Drew has been slumping and/or sulking ever since Francona lifted him for a pinch-hitter in, I think, the 10th game of the year. Until that point, he had hit in every game since the beginning of the year. That move probably injured his fragile psyche, and he has yet to recover. Whaddya think?

George Scott broke up Wise's no-hit bid with a home run. Later in the inning Wise gave up another home run, a two-run shot, though I don't remember who hit that one.
