Pena and Van Buren coming, Harris and Lopez going

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox activated outfielder Wily Mo Pena from the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander Jermaine Van Buren from Triple-A Pawtucket in time for Tuesday night's game against the Kansas City Royals.

Left-hander Javier Lopez was optioned to Triple-A after Monday night's game and infielder Willie Harris was designated for assignment.

Pena batted .321 with four homers and 18 RBIs in 35 games before going on the disabled list May 27 to have surgery on his left wrist. This is Van Buren's fourth stint with the Red Sox this season; he is 1-0 with an 8.71 ERA in seven relief appearances.

Lopez, who was acquired from the Chicago White Sox for righty David Riske on June 15, is 0-0 with a 4.32 ERA in 14 relief appearances for the Red Sox. Harris batted .156 with seven RBIs and 17 runs in 34 games.
