What a difference 50 miles makes

If you've been in Rhode Island this morning, the idea that anyone could play baseball within 50 miles of here is ludicrous. The rain has been coming down so steadily, and so hard, that there would seem to be no chance that the Red Sox and Phillies could play today.

However, conditions are different in Boston. It's barely rained at Fenway, and fans have gathered for this afternoon's game.

But there's another "however". The rain that's been here is allegedly headed up there. And if that's the case, the Sox and Phillies could be in trouble.

Stay tuned. Keep track of the rainfall via local radar, courtesy of weatherunderground. com. And here are today's starting lineups:

BOSTON:
Kevin Youkilis, 1B
Alex Cora, 2B
David Ortiz, DH
Manny Ramirez, LF
Trot Nixon, RF
Mike Lowell, 3B
Coco Crisp, CF
Doug Mirabelli, C
Alex Gonzalez,SS
---
Tim Wakefield, P

PHILADELPHIA:
Jimmy Rollins, SS
Chase Utley, 2B
Bobby Abreu, RF
Ryan Howard, 1B
Aaron Rowand, CF
David Dellucci, DH
Shane Victorino, LF
David Bell, 3B
Chris Coste, C
---
Cory Lidle, P
