Winter meetings update: On David Wells and Johnny Damon »
December 5, 2005
Major League Baseball has announced the preliminary rosters for the World Baseball Classic, which takes place next March.
Among the Red Sox players who've agreed to participate: David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez (Dominican Republic); Johnny Damon and Jason Varitek (USA), Doug Mirabelli (Italy) and Mike Lowell (Puerto Rico). Former Red Sox stars on board include Roger Clemens (USA), Pedro Martinez (DR)
Notable by his absence -- Curt Schilling. Perhaps Schilling wants to concentrate on getting ready and healthy for the start of the regular season.
Buck Martinez will manage Team USA.
