ANAHEIM -- When Dustin Pedroia grounded to second base with the bases loaded for the final out of the sixth inning, he fell to 0-for-7 in the ALDS and 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
That's highly unusual for Pedroia, who is in the running for the Most Valuable Player award in the American League after finishing second in the A.L. batting race with an average of .326; tying for the major-league lead in hits, with 213; leading the majors in doubles, with 54; finishing second in the majors with 118 runs scored; and driving in 83 runs.
Frustration Update: Make that 0-for-8 in the series, 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position for Pedroia, who left Jacoby Ellsbury stranded at second base in the eighth, grounding out sharply to shortstop, ending the inning..
Don't worry, Pedey will come through - he always does!
