BOSTON _ Red Sox manager Terry Francona admitted Friday afternoon that outfielder Coco Crisp received an injection in left foot a few days ago and that's why he hasn't played the last couple of games.
The bottom of Crisp's foot has been bothering for a little while, and Francona said it was very "tender" on Thursday after receiving the shot.
"We need to give him a few days to let the injection work, and allow him to play as long as we play," said Francona. "I don't think he'll be pain free ever this year."
