Click the play button below to hear Joe McDonald's comments, recorded this morning. The topics: why the Red Sox struggle so much in Toronto, Paul Byrd's importance to the pitching staff, Byrd's third consecutive start against the Blue Jays, and Kevin Youkilis' MVP credentials.
Here's some of what Joe said when asked who gained the most advantage from familiarity, Paul Byrd or the Blue Jays:
"[Byrd] made a great comment last week, when we asked him about facing the Blue Jays three times in a row. He said, 'Well, just pretend I'm your uncle in a whiffle ball game in the backyard. I've got a million pitches and I can throw them a million different ways.' And that's true. Because of his delivery, because of his style, he can change things up a little bit. So, in this situation I believe Paul Byrd has the advantage, because he can change things up and the hitters really don't know what he's going to do."
