HOUSTON -- Maybe it's something in the water in Houston.
Days after Houston Astros pitcher Shawn Chacon tackled general manger Ed Wade in the home clubhouse at Minute Maid Park, the visitors clubhouse was the scene of another player-club employee altercation Saturday afternoon.
Manny Ramirez shoved Red Sox traveling secretary Jack McCormick to the ground in an argument over Ramirez' ticket allotment. Several onlookers moved quickly to separate the two.
Ramirez had asked McCormick for 16 tickets for Saturday night's Red Sox-Astros game, an unusually high number for day-of-game. In addition to handling all travel details for clubs, traveling secretaries also take player ticket requests for both home and away games.
When McCormick cautioned Ramirez that he might not be able to fulfill his request, Ramirez responded by shouting: "Just do your job!"
An argument ensued and Ramirez pushed McCormick, sending him to the ground.
Later, the two met behind closed doors and Ramirez apologized to McCormick, who accepted the gesture. No further disciplinary action is expected against Ramirez.
Asked on Sunday to comment on the altercation, Ramirez responded: "That's over. We're fine now."
"Sometimes things happen," said Terry Francona, "and when they do, we choose to handle them internally. I'm satisfied with how we handled this."
Added McCormick: "It was an unfortunate misunderstanding and it's over with as far as I'm concerned."

Manny needs to go. Or are we writing this off as
"Manny being Manny"? Manny needs his ass kicked. Its not as if he's batting 320 or anything! His days of playing the prima donna role are long gone.

What is up with Manny...I thought he was going to be all calm and relaxed this season. Now he's fighting in the dugout with teammates and throwing down members of the staff. Looks like the big baby needs some anger management classes!

People push each other all the time. So he is famous. I think it says a lot about the maturity sox organization that they can handle stuff like this internally, rather than have it blow up like the thing with the astros. Manny does not need to go. Manny can stay right here in Boston and push me every damn day. The world is turning into a bunch lame-asses that cant handle anything on their own.

okay Manny did act like a big baby and he should be strongly disciplined, I do think they let ball players get away with too much. Manny needs to be brought back to reality.
But I think people are being a little dramatic. Get rid of him? Yeah let's get rid of one of the best hitters in the game because he lost his cool and acted like a jerk. That would be a smart move for the team.

This is just the tip of the Manny behavioral iceberg. Committing a CRIME against a senior citizen is just Manny searching for a new way to get two weeks off around the all-star break.
He's already used up all the dead and sick relatives he has and fake injuries his limited mind can think of. So....he committs a crime and the Red Sox don't even blink.
What is Manny going to do when he's told that the Sox wont talk about extending him until after the season?
When is a Red Sox player going to step and punch Manny in the mouth?

um..Hello? Who cares? If this was another player they would have done the same thing. You ever get in a shoving match with your brother, then twenty minutes later go play catch? Same thing.

Interesting that Youkilis has temper/testosterone tantrums in the dugout every second game and Boston fans ignore it. Yet the one batter who has always produced for them is continuously derided.

Give an employee like Ramirez $20 million/year,have him get the wrong answer from an underling and that's just what you'd expect.The money makes the man in his circle;whether he has any class or not.
