Doesn't He Read The New England Papers?

Bob Kravitz, a columnist for the Indianapolis Star, this week wrote that the Patriots are "the least lovable champs since Sonny Liston," and called them the "New-Age Oakland Raiders." Which is understandable, given the way the Pats have been piling up points against overmatched and overwhelmed opponents, the VideoGate scandal, the acquisition of the controversial Randy Moss, and coach Bill Belichick's unfriendly demeanor.
But what is baffling is that Kravitz referred to the New England media as "a group notorious for its pompon waving."
I have to wonder what response he'd get if he asked players, coaches, and team officials from four the region's four pro sports franchises if they thought the writers covering them were "cheerleaders."

He's right, read the newspapers or listen to the local sports radio and all you hear is how genius Belichick is and how Brady can do no wrong. Things that the local media would excoriate any other franchise/players for, they let slide with the Patriots. HGH use, rampant cheating, non-interviews, unsportsmanlike behavior on a number of levels and it all gets put aside by the gushing members of our local media. The problem is, the only people who can be honest about it are the non-NE Patriots fans that live in NE. The Patriots fans are equally as bad, ignoring the blemishes because the team has brought home some trophies. Well guess what, I'm a HUGE Red Sox fan, but if Ortiz was found to have used steroids, I'd feel the same way about him as I do Barry Bonds. I'm no hypocrite, I've lashed out about Bonds and to look the other way if it was a player that I've liked would be dishonest. Well, most Patriots fans are, at minimum dishonest (and the media as well).

I feel bad for all the folks who lashed out at Bonds. Pretty soon you'll have to lashing out at half the league. And if you include HGH, probably 3/4's of the NFL too.

Everyone on their high horses about how people should behave... I just don't get it.
