Statement from Bill Belichick regarding penalties
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has released this statement through the team:
“I accept full responsibility for the actions that led to tonight’s ruling. Once again, I apologize to the Kraft family and every person directly or indirectly associated with the New England Patriots for the embarrassment, distraction and penalty my mistake caused. I also apologize to Patriots fans and would like to thank them for their support during the past few days and throughout my career.
“As the Commissioner acknowledged, our use of sideline video had no impact on the outcome of last week’s game. We have never used sideline video to obtain a competitive advantage while the game was in progress.
“Part of my job as head coach is to ensure that our football operations are conducted in compliance of the league rules and all accepted interpretations of them. My interpretation of a rule in the Constitution and Bylaws was incorrect.
“With tonight’s resolution, I will not be offering any further comments on this matter. We are moving on with our preparations for Sunday’s game.”

Are thet going to prevent all cell phones into the stadiums from now on? They have video capabilities. How about lap top computers that let you watch a game.
Sure is sour grapes on the Jets, especially since the decesion has said it had no outcome on the game.

I believe that all teams do it, but a camera on the field was wrong. He admitted his mistake, and was punished for it, as well as the team. Now it is time to say "are your ready for some football"

You know, stealing signlas in sports has been going on for decades. This is nothing new. There are coaches who coach little league who steal signal for crying out loud. This has always been done in sports. Are you going to sit there and tell me that no other team in the NFL does it? Please, don't be naive. The Patriots were just careless enough, and stupid enough, to get caught doing it. Of course now you have every team crying about it. Just remember, even if they did steal the signs, the person who did the filming has to figure out what the signs mean and what type of defense will be run. Then he needs to relay that information to Josh McDaniels the offensive coordinator. Then McDaniels has to figure out a play to work agains that particular defense. Then McDaniels has to get the play into Brady. Then Brady needs to call the play in the huddle, get set up at the line of scriimmage, call his signals at the line, plus the offensive line need to know what protection they will be in on this particular play. Then they need to execute the play. It is easier said than done. There's just not enought time for all this to take place. Josh McDaniel only has contact with Brady up until the 15 second mark on the play clock. Once the clock hits 15 seconds there is no communication between the offensive coordinator and the quarterback. And what many people don't understand is that many times the play changes at the line depending on what the defense does because many times the defense will give you one look and then do something else. When that happens the offense may change their play to counteract what the defense just did. Which of course means that they need to call an audible. Which also means the entire play gets changed including blocking assignments at the line. There's just not enough time for all this to happen when the offense has only 40 seconds to get the play off.
Bottom line is they earned their Super Bowl Torphies fair and square and should hold their heads high for all of their accomplishments. They beat the Jets fair and square too.
They just got caught doing something they shouldn't have done. (Even though many other teams do it too).
