Report: Doctors find serious damage to Maroney's shoulder
Doctors found significant damage to the shoulder of Patriots running back Laurence Maroney while performing offseason surgery, The Boston Herald reports today, quoting an unnamed league source. The nature and long-term impact of Maroney's injury are unclear, according to the report.
With Corey Dillon gone, Maroney figures to enter his second NFL season as the Patriots' go-to back. In his rookie season, the University of Minnesota product was impressive while sharing the burden with Dillon. But rib and knee injuries took their toll, and he saw limited playing time during the Patriots' playoff run.
