Banta-Cain signs with San Francisco
Former New England Patriots linebacker Tully Banta-Cain has signed with the San Francisco 49ers, according to ESPN.
Terms of the deal are not known.
Banta-Cain, 26, who found his starting job gone when the Patriots acquired free agent Adalius Thomas, had by far the most productive of his four NFL seasons in 2006. He made 42 tackles and registered 5.5 sacks for the season.
Joining the 49ers will be a homecoming for Banta-Cain, a native of Mountain View who attended the University of California.
