Schoolies were taking small jigs with soft-plastic tails at Matunuck Beach behind the Ocean Mist today at around 2 p.m. The fish were very close to shore. The tide was out.
Greg Rego weighed an 8-pound largemouth at Ocean State Tackle yesterday. He said he caught the fish on a shiner at Tucker Pond in South Kingstown.

Managed 3 schoolies to 24" in the Barrington River between 7:00-8:15 pm on Monday evening. The New Moon phase had the tide absolutely ripping and the high tide mark was about as high as I've seen. All fish were caught on the first cast in 3 different locations along structure, away from the strong tidal flow. No hits followed the initial fish in each spot. All fish were caught using 4" superflukes silver/brown soft baits with 1/4 oz jig heads. Great night out on the river.

Thanks, Matt. We fly fished in Providence today, and struck out.
