Go west for ice pike
Rhode Island has had virtually no safe ice this season, but western Massachusetts is cold enough for ice fishing. Scott Frazier of North Providence traveled to Lake Pontoosuc in Pittsfield where he caught an 8-pound northern pike last weekend. He was fishing with a large shiner in 6 to 7 feet of water.
