Bill Nolan caught these bass fishing the lower Bay today

"The fishing in the southern end of the Bay is really holding up well," writes Bill "Eelman" Nolan. "Of course you have to fight your way past bluefish. There are still plenty of bunker to be had also. The bite is occuring early, however, and most of my fish are coming before daybreak. These two were caught this morning!"

Mr. Nolan seems to be into the cows everyday and I envy his ability to find and catch fish. Curiosity demands that I ask, what does Mr Nolan do with the fish that he brings home?

Either the eelman has a big garden to fertilize or he likes to eat alot of stripers. You know that if you eat too many you may turn into one.lol. Congratulations on your persistence ,knowledge and technique. I would love to tag along on one of your outings to learn some of your proven methods. Ever think of writing a book? If you do I would love to illustrate it. Kevin

Granted the Eelman has the ability to catch these trophy's. I wish he would read some of the books Frank Daignault wrote back in the 80's about the decimation of the stripers. He admittedly said he was part of the problem because of all the cows that he caught and sold to the markets the next morning. Hopefully the Eelman can learn from this and realize he may be on the same road of destroying this great species. Personally, I always feel much better when I release these fish. Maybe he should try it!

Maybe we should mind our own business about what the Eelman does with is daily catch limit. A number by the way set by DEM in order to maintain a healthy fishery. I'm a catch and release guy myself but I sometimes enjoy putting a nice striper on the grill. I'd be more concerned with how the commercial fleet ruins our fish population by cruising up the bay and dragging up all the bait fish. You can also thank the "spy in the sky" for calling out the schools of fish to these boats while he's making his morning traffic reports.

As Mr. Nolan chooses to send these pictures to us, I see nothing wrong with posing the questions.
