Bruins acquire goalie Alex Auld
The Bruins today acquired goaltender Alex Auld from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for left wing Nate DiCasmirro and the Bruins fifth round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Auld is expected to join the team today.
Auld has appeared in nine games for Phoenix this year, tallying a record of 3-6-0 and a 3.54 goals-against average. He has also played in two games for Phoenix*s AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, where he had 1-1-0 record and a 2.53 goals-against average.
In his NHL career, the 6*4** Auld has played in 117 games, maintaining a record of 49-50-2-11, a goals-against average of 2.94 and a save percentage of .901.
Originally selected in the second round (40th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers, Auld was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on May 31, 2001 for a second round selection in the 2001 NHL
Entry Draft and a third round selection in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
The 26 year-old Auld made his NHL debut with the Canucks on January 23,
2002 in a 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars.
He was then traded from Vancouver back to Florida on June 23, 2006 along with Todd Bertuzzi and Bryan Allen in exchange for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek and a sixth round choice in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Auld signed with Phoenix as a free agent on August 13, 2007.
DiCasmirro signed with the Bruins as a free agent on July 17, 2006.
Over the past two seasons with the Providence Bruins (AHL), he has played in 88 games, tallying 12 goals and 21 assists. He did not see any action with Boston during his time with the Bruins organization.
