The Bruins today signed center Glen Metropolit. Metropolit had been invited to training camp on a professional tryout, and appeared in four of the Bruins preseason games before being signed.

Last season, Metropolit split time between the Atlanta Thrashers and St. Louis Blues and totaled 14 goals and 19 assists in 77 games with the two clubs. He appeared in 57 games with the Thrashers before being traded to St. Louis along with three draft picks (a first and third round pick in 2007 and a second round pick in 2008) for Keith Tkachuk on February 25, 2007.

The 33-year-old center first entered the NHL when he was signed as a free agent by the Washington Capitals on July 19, 1999. In 180 career games in the NHL, Metropolit has tallied 24 goals and 56 assists.
