Bruins sign first-round draft pick Kessel

The Boston Bruins today announced that they had signed their first-round draft pick, 18-year-old Phil Kessel, to a multi-year contract.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli raved that Kessel is a player with "world-class speed and gifted offensive talents."

Sinden steps down

Harry Sinden has stepped down as president of the Boston Bruins, a role he's had since 1989. He's been a cornerstone for the organization for more than 40 years and will be retained as a senior advisor for owner Jeremy Jacobs.

Charlie Jacobs called this a "process of restructing."

Harry Sinden, who ended the Boston Bruins' 29-year Stanley Cup drought as a coach in 1970 and then served as the public face of the franchise -- first as general manager, then as team president -- for the next 3 1/2 decades, is stepping down. Sinden announced this morning he is leaving his position as team president and stepping into a role as senior advisor to owner Jeremy Jacobs.

Bruins sign Brad Boyes to two-year contract

The Boston Bruins today agreed to terms with right wing Brad Boyes on a two-year contract worth $3 million. The contract calls for Boyes to make $1.4 million in the coming season and $1.6 million the next year.

Boyes, 24, led the Bruins in assists last year with 43, and his 69 total points were second behind Patrice Bergeron.
