Alex Zhamnov suffered a broken left ankle in the waning minutes of the second period against the Lightning. He was attempting a hip check on Evgeny Artyukhin when he hit the half-wall and went down awkwardly. The centerman needed help off the ice and was escorted down the tunnel and into the locker room.
He missed the first 17 games of the season with a broken rib, which he suffered in the last preseason game against the New York Islanders.
