Futher down the trail

Still on the trail theme, Saranac's Adirondack Trail Mix is worth a taste. It offers nice variety, including a Black & Tan, Amber, India Pale Ale and a Pilsner, at a reasonable price, about $6.50 for a six-pack at one package store on Cape Cod.

How could you go wrong packing Saranac's Adirondack Trail Mix and Long Trail Ale's Hit the Trail Ale on your next hike?

By the way, Saranac is offering even more variety with its new 12-pack available in stores this holiday season. It offers 12 different beers and ales, including Saranac's Chocolate Amber, a "heavier, more malty brew" to complement the cold winter months, and its Season's Best, "a rich, mellow nut brown lager."

It didn't find its way under my tree this year, but I may soon take matters into my own hands.

In my fridge now: Samuel Adams Winter Lager and Saranac's Adirondack Amber.
