Man's best friend could become his favorite drinking buddy if a Washington state lawmaker gets his way. Sen Ken Jacobsen is proposing legislation that would let dog owners bring their pets into bars and restaurants. He got the idea while at a downtown Olympia pub and saw dogs waiting outside in the cold and rain, according to the Associated Press. "There's all sorts of places you can bring animals now," said Jacobsen, who doesn't own a dog. "You can take dogs into hotels. My God, some people are carrying dogs in their purses. PORTLAND, Maine -- A Massachusetts beer importer has been granted permission to sell beers in Maine with labels showing Santa Claus and bare-breasted women. The decision to let Shelton Brothers sell Santa's Butt Winter Porter and two other European beers reverses a decision last fall to deny the company's application to sell the beers in Maine. After the denial, the Maine Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Belchertown, Mass., company in U.S. District Court in Portland accusing the Maine Bureau of Liquor Enforcement of censorship.
