City board to consider closing Club Diesel
PROVIDENCE -- The city Board of Licenses will hear testimony this afternoon about whether to close a popular downtown nightclub.
Providence police have asked the board to close Club Diesel, the scene of a series of violent confrontation in recent months, including two stabbings. The Washington Street venue shares space with the music club, Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel.
The Board of Licenses meeting begins at 1 p.m. inside City Hall. Club supporters have encouraged community members to turn out in large numbers to protest the possible closure.
The board may make a decision today, though it is not required to do so. See a detailed agenda here.

I think they should DEFINITELY close Club Diesel. Every week you can expect to hear about someone getting assualted or stabbed after exiting that club. It is a safety hazard to those of us who live in the city and should be closed down for good. I for one would feel alot safer knowing that one less violence prone establishment existed in this great city.

DOES CLOSING DOWN DIESEL MEAN CLOSING DOWN LUPO'S ALTOGETHER. I DON'T USUALLY COME FOR THE DIESEL SHOWS; ONLY SHOWS AT LUPO'S

its not all diesel's fault. its the surrounding area. granted there was a fight in side diesel, but fights accure all over providence. shuttin down diesel will not stop the violence in the area. diesel also seems to be switching there theme a little bit on friday nights. dont blame diesel for the all the problems.

I dont think blame should be put on Disel for what happens when people leave, after they leave its not their problem, I for one have been to many different clubs in Providence, Boston and NYC and I feel safest in Diesel, not many clubs have female only dance floors surrounded by security. I have never had a problem there nor have I ever seen a problem in the whole year that I go there every week.

That club is a mess. I have been to Dejavu, Hell, The Keg Room, etc. and I have never encountered a problem. Whenever I leave those clubs, however, i always see cops swarming around Diesel because either someone is fighting or worst. One night after the club, I had the pleasure of seeing two bodies on the sidewalk, two kids who had just left Diesel. If people can't learn to have a good time, then they need to close the place down. Hmmm... then again... maybe they should keep it open... if all the animals are there, they won't be where I am...
