Woman arrested in connection with the beating of a child
A 23-year-old San Bernardino woman is behind bars in connection with the beating of her 2-1/2-year-old son who reportedly lives in Riverside, police say.
Elena Moore was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of felony child abuse and was booked Thursday into West Valley Detention on $100,000 bail, booking records show.
Her son, whose name was withheld, suffered head, face and internal injuries that include broken ribs, Lt. Scott Paterson of the San Bernardino Police Department said in a written statement.
The child was beaten over a period of several weeks at a home along the 1300 block of North G Street in San Bernardino, and the injuries could have been life-threatening if he had not been taken to a hospital, the statement says.
The abuse was reported to police on Christmas Eve, say investigators, though they did not release details.
