Temecula to consider emergency declaration tonight
Legislation to declare a state of emergency in Temecula will be considered by the City Council at its meeting at 7 p.m. tonight.
The declaration, a last-minute addition to the agenda, will make the city eligible to receive compensation from the state and federal government for expenses related to the wildfires, Mayor Chuck Washington said.
While Temecula remains untouched by the wildfires, hundreds from outlying areas have sought refuge in the city’s Community Recreation Center. Smoke from fires in De Luz and San Diego County are visible on Temecula’s horizon.
