Fire officials are warning the public to stay away from some flowers blooming in burn areas of the San Bernardino Mountains.

The Poodle-dog bush, also known as Turricula parryi, can cause itching rashes and irritation. The San Bernardino County Fire Department issued an advisory this week warning people not to touch or smell it.

The Poodle-dog bush is a sturdy plant with long leaves that produce clusters of purpleand-white trumpet-shaped flowers. It thrives in burn areas, and might be growing in areas where last year’s Slide and Grass Valley fires burned.
