Mondrian Stole Your Sexiness, Palm Springs - Want it Back?
A promo for the proposed Mondrian Hotel that's expected to be built near the Palm Springs Convention Center is online on YouTube.com. I saw it for the first time during a Palm Springs Economic Development Corp. meeting a couple weeks ago. Oddly, whoever posted the video disabled comments and ratings.
Here's my play-by-play:
00:00 - 00:45 -- Am I watching a KCET documentary against my will?
00:45 -- Should I be scared of the beautiful people? Free thought means nothing when ominous music is playing in the background.
01:01 -- I don't doubt that Liberace lounged in bubble baths festooned with gold, but I do doubt that he would risk making those fabulous rings rusty.
01:14 -- Here's where a few folks in the crowd of Palm Springs hoteliers and business owners started to squirm when the spot took a turn like you'd expect a presidential campaign ad to do.
01:51 -- I dunno if seeing a boar's head on a table would make me think of fine dining in Palm Springs normally
02:35 -- If they're keeping that logo, it looks an awful lot like the Parker Palm Springs logo.
03:00 -- "All designed in the new desert modern style, Moroccan modern" -- news to me that that's a new design trend in the desert.
While we're on YouTube ...
Best marketing from a fictional airline:
Anyone sit through Eli Stone on ABC last night just to catch the Oceanic Airlines commercial and regretted it? Yeah, me too. I could have just found it on YouTube (below). I'm so glad Lost is back.
Now why did Hurley regret going with Locke and who's the lawyer with Oceanic Airlines?! So many questions, so few answers.
