It May Be August, But It's Palm Springs Tourism Day!
So it feels as if all things tourist are in Palm Springs today -- at 2 p.m. I'll be heading to town to listen to the Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism announce the results of tourist survey. As far as I know, the city has never known who really visits the area besides looking around at the tourists themselves, so it should be interesting to find out who's been vacationing here.
Here is other news out of the city-funded tourism bureau:
Beginning Aug. 31, the city of Palm Springs will be exposed to tourists surfing the Web and watching television, according to statements from the city.
The Palm Springs Bureau of Tourism has partnered with travel Web site Travelocity to display “Discover Palm Springs” banner ads on the site whenever a person searches for flights into or out of Los Angeles International Airport, LA/Ontario International Airport or Palm Springs International Airport.
On cable television, a 20-minute video tour of the city will be available to Time Warner Video on Demand subscribers in Los Angeles, San Diego, New York City, Minneapolis, St. Louis and Chicago as a part of a programming offering called Journey TV.
