Storma Del' Andrae's close friend and companion Robert Logsdon Sr. paid me a visit this week to show me the obituary he published for her in our newspaper. It appeared Thursday and again today -- as final preparations are being made for the 87-year-old woman's service Saturday.
An online version of the obituary can be read by clicking here. It contains many of the details her friends told me upon her death Feb. 29. Del' Andrae was attacked earlier that month during a break-in at her Highland Avenue mobile home.
Logsdon wrote in the obituary that Del' Andrae had a "generous heart and insatiable mind for knowledge." An excerpt appears below:
"Eternally fashionable apparel and classic looks and beauty was obvious. Her home was filled with her drawings, oil and acrylic paintings. Her cupboard held silver service, crystal and china. To dine at Storma's table was an unforgettable event."
Saturday's service will begin at 11 a.m. at the First Christrian Church (Disciples of Christ) at 1001 N. Arrowhead Dr., San Bernardino. Logsdon and Del' Andrae attended services there, and it was through the church that the victim met one of her assailants, friends have said.
Speaking of suspects, the 16-year-old San Bernardino residents Cesar Pulido and Mike "Junior" Garcia appeared in San Bernardino County Superior Court Wednesday and waived a time requirement for their preliminary hearings. They now will most likely be delayed through April.
